Kindergarten learned about chlorophyll and chromatography today in this multi-step STEM Experiment.

First we watched a video about pigments in leaves, then we went outside to collect three different colored leaves.

We sorted them into 3 jars and baked them in alcohol for 1 hr. We dipped coffee filters in each and when dry, observed the changes through a magnifying glass.

Each leaf did have a hidden pigment! We had so much fun being scientists today!

Grade 1 watched a movie about Johnny Appleseed and then made a crock pot apple cake.  Yum!  They also took home a Johnny Appleseed hand puppet that they made.
